The History of Grace Valley Chinese Church

In February 2006, a unanimous vision brought four families together and they started holding meetings in their own homes. As the families grew into community, they officially registered their congregation as a nonprofit faith-based organization using the name “Grace Valley Chinese Church” under Texas legislature. In April 2006, they began sharing the location of Bethel Baptist Church (9900 State Highway 30, College Station, TX 77845) and began their Sunday worship and fellowship gatherings. This weekly venue has continued ever since.

The Chinese population in the Bryan-College Station area has reached into the thousands. Over the past few years we have used evangelical outreach to approach our friends and educate them with the underlying principles of Christian fellowship. With the foundation of the church and the help of our local students, faculty, and staff, as well as visiting scholars and families, we would like to become your home away from home. We hope that in time you understand the gospel from the Kingdom of Heaven, because life is not only to live or make a living. Human existence is more significant when it is eternal life given by God, as the Bible says, “What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit his very self?" (Luke 9:25).

The majority of our church members are from China. Among us are young couples and single students who have become Christians while in the US, and together with our elders, visiting relatives, and children, there is always joy among us. We were once atheists and great admirers of Darwinism; however today we would rather offer ourselves to Christ Jesus by whom we have been given redemption to start anew. With sincerity and caring, we urge all our compatriots from our homeland and surrounding regions to realize “what you do not believe in.” We too had denied the Bible, but this was so because we never read it. We had denied Christ, but we had never even understood what Christian faith entailed. Preconceptions of he soul, eternal life, and the kingdom of God are of great importance, so why not study the scriptures and stop letting others influence our views and decide our future?

In addition to a weekly Friday Bible study and Sunday worship service, church activities include prayer meetings every Wednesday, as well as outreach events, women's group, and men's group every month. Grace from God lets us receive spiritual fulfillment from our gatherings. Ministries within the church body also help us to feel the warmth of our family overseas. May you too come to know the Lord Jesus Christ and to savor His divine Grace, so that you would learn of his goodness.
